Active Cam's ???

I was just wondering if it would be possible to activate a cam while chatting or visiting PFM. I know there's Skype & Yahoo but I thought it might be fun to actually view as we read & post. Just a thought.

Now thi would definitely be an interesting supplement to the 'site pix. How much would a personal webcam outfit cost? Can someone make recommendations for a Dell Desktop, running Windows 7 Home Premium? I'd like to know for sure, whether my setup has built-in hardware/software/drivers to run a webcam, or if I may have to go through the hassle of getting a PCI card, modify my motherboard, and-or have to install software/drivers/program attributes through a CD/DVD.

Take a look at Logitech cams: http://www.logitech.com/en-us/webcam-communications/webcams

The cams have USB cables and should work with Windows 7. Moat likely the onboard video display card will work just fine. Cams come with needed drivers and software.

Thanks, Jan! Logitech is also sold on the Dell 'site, my go-to 'site for compatibility with my Dell machine. I'll look both at your suggestions and Dell's. Say!, I just thought of something! If they're cheap enough, and function the way I'd like, I could skip the expensive SLR's, do freeze-frames, and, if their USB cables are long enough, and they are high-def/-res enough (to pick up a fabric's knit-grain, sheerness, and sheen), why, I could place a webcam on a table, a coupla yards or so from my cumputer, and voila!, you'd be seeing the Breezester finally posting still pix here! And you could get an idea of the custom crafting that I do for my personal pantie designs. If folks were intrigued enough with what I make, Donna could then get some extra persuasion to execute my design(s).

If these were able to make short movies (I wonder if one also needs Adobe Flash support.), with a microphone, I could demonstrate my favorite play techniques--both Windage and Friction.

 Breezstroke,

You can record videos with web cams and save those with out Adobe Flash. Using Windows Media Player that comes with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 as part of the operating system will save the videos as '.wmv' extension. Most likely when you record with a Logitech web camera the file will be saved as '.wmv' extension by default. When you record the video with sound make sure that option is selected with the web cam software.

Make sure you have the latest Windows Media Player: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows/products/windows-media-player

 buddyboy,

I do not beleive there is a Chat Room set up on PFM. I do not know if it is even possible to set up a live chat room with video. Maybe if Donna or Ross reads this post they can answer that question.

I'm looking into all the different options for you guys.

Breezie never need persuation to sew your designs.  Just need some thought and input on how to accomplish what you desire. Plus the perfect fabrics..hehe.

Great, Donna!! Just let us know, when and if you can get the "Swatch Feature" started. Others here besides myself--I'm sure--would be extremely interested in such a service, I'm sure. I'm just wondering, how much Yardage of any given fabric would be needed, to justify the display of that particular fabric, and how the Classification System might work. Of course you'd be the judge of all that. To Classify, I guess the criteria would be Sheerness, Glossy or Matte, Denier, Acetate, Rayon, Nylon, Blended Tricots, Microfibre/Lycra/Spandex, and-or Cotton/Cotton Blends.

You may still not believe me, but there are some awesome fine 1 X 1 Rib-Knits Raw Yardage out there; I think it wouldn't be too difficult to work with that stuff, either, from a seamster's/seamstress'es perspective.
