As long as they were either pink or had a cute print, I would still wear panties.

As long as they came in a Primo Egyptian/Pima/Peruvian Long-Fibre Cotton, done in a fine 1 X 1 Rib-Knit. I'm tryin' to tell you folks, that this stuff is as soft, if not softer, than some ho-hum Captiva-Type Tricots. These Cottons have more of a downie, fuzzie, furrie feel to their softness. They are loads o' fun, and you could get used to the idea quite quickly.

I think the turn-off from Cotton derives from the scratchy Jersey-Knit exemplified by T-shirts, and the fact that many if not most TW's (That's Tightee-Whiteys; get used to my abbreviation.) are made with inferior grades of Short-Fibre Cotton, that feels stiff, scratchy, and dead to the touch.

Thats a tough one , I would have to think long and hard about that, I guess is that I would break down and wear them , But it would be a very sad day.

So far most of the posts show that wearing panties is for the feel of the material. As for me, the important thing is that they are panties. Panties are one part of the equation that helps to fulfill my feminine side. I have long ago abandoned the excuse of apnties being more comfortable then men's underwear, which they are. Although one could definitely make an argument that men's boxers are comfortable. Men's briefs are harsh compared to a pair of panties. I don't like the looseness of boxers.

When I first started wearing panties, I wanted the silky, satiny feel and that is all I bought; I loved them. At that time, I probably would not have switched to panties if they were just cotton. But since I've become a 24/7 panty man and I've puchased hundreds of panties, I've gotten into prints and styles that are cotton and I love them as well. Cotton panties can feel good, too, particularly if they don't have full back coverage so a portion of each butt cheek is exposed. That feel is wonderful. But in the end, my preference is still the silky panties of all styles. I prefer them for me and I prefer them for my wife; the cotton ones on her do not turn me on nearly as much as the silky ones.

I really want to take this thread back to Puss' original premise: Restriction to Cotton (Cotton Types??) Only.

If all of those nice Tricots, Microfibres, Tencels, and such, cumpletely, absolutely vanished overnight, here's my advice to you all, of how you can make the most, in a Cotton-(Possibly including Blends??)Only world.

The best place to start, as far as Ladies' Undies is concerned, is to look towards chi-chi brands such as Hanro of Switzerland; Zimmerli of Switzerland; Calida of Germany/Switzerland; Holistas by Nordstrom; and, Mey of Germany. These  are made of ultra-fine 1 X 1 Rib-Knit Pure Cotton. To be fair, my experience is only with Hanro, Holistas, Calidas, and Meys, with Calidas being the least desireable. The Zimm's, well their expense puts them through the roof! A fast glance may tell you that (Pooh-Pooh, ugh, TW's!!) they may feel no better than your rough-scratchy FOTL TW's. I will disabuse you of that notion, in stating that you first run your hand over this fabric, and it feels oh-so-Heavenly furrie/downie soft. Look at how thin and sheer the fabric is--you can see your hand or read a book through the fabric. Look at how light bounces off the fabric at many angles, why, it has a gloss, a sheen to it! This one may take a little convincing, but, after not too many wash/wear break-in cycles (Seasoning), the Factory Sizing/Processing disappears, and they become as supple, drapey, clingy, and ripple-y as any Tricot. Look at probable SO's and other probable pantie playmates and yourselves--as you're wearing these--don't they look as sweet, riding over your contours, with a little sprouting of tiny fuzzies, kinda "baby-like"?

Believe it or not, some guys' TW's current brandage, is really decent--if they eschewed the "winkie pouch", and made single fabricked-pane panties out of them, instead. So, I make panties out of those!! Jockey, Lee, and Calvin Klein have the gushiest 100% Pure Cotton in a 1 X 1 Rib-Knit, that really require very little break-in. Then, there's a couple of current Cot/Poly Blendeds, also in 1 X 1 Rib-Knit, of note. Sears Covingtons hearkens back to TW's of yore, very downie and drapey to the touch, and sheer, after about Three or so launderings. Then JCPenney's, they went retro "classic-vintage" too, dropping the Towncraft line in favor of the Stafford Blendeds. That Cot/Poly TW is just a little more heavyweight, and may take a little more seasoning/break-in, before the fabric fluffs out nicely.

Right now, as far as TW'sville is concerned, there's some Euro/English Jockeys, the Jockey DeLuxe, made of ultra-fine 1 X 1 Rib-Knit Pure Cotton, that I'm hung up on, for the moment. Originally High-Waist Y-Fronts, I took Two pair and joined  the Two Back Panels together, to make panties out of those. My eye, Winkie, and the rest of my bod tells me that I'm wearing Womens' Hanros, the fabric's that beautiful--sheer, glossy, and clingy/drapey.

Another fine source, is true vintage TW's of more than Twenty years ago, both in Cotton and Cot/Poly Blendeds. Those would be Briefs made by the "Big-Box" stores of the day, such as Woolworth's, Montgomery Wards, Newberry's, the old Sears & Roebucks, and the old JCPenneys. I prefer the Blendeds, because they turn out sheerer and softer, and with that man-made Polyester, they generate a bit of a static electric charge, that makes them cling ever closer, to boost their softness. Once again, I detach Two back panels, sew those together, and that makes panties out of them. Also, there's quite a number of extinct off-brands that date all the way back to the '40's--before the Breezester came, and later cummed(!!), on the scene. Those require hours of poring over eBay's "Vintage" offerings. Otherwise, you're burning up gallons and gallons of gas, to search out thrift stores, which may not have what you're looking for.

One last word, that being about Cot/Poly Blends. If I sense that a break-in period's going to take too long, I've been known to do a Burn-Out Process, using pure chlorine bleach. I've yet to perfect the process, though the next time that I try it, I'm going to soak the stuff, for ony between Ten Minutes and an Hour; otherwise the Elastics will start to go. That burns up much, if not all of the stiffer, tougher Cotton fibers, leaving behind very silky, sheer, and glossy Polyester. Your stuff may yet stink of bleach, so it may take a few long hot water washings to minimize the stink. I've given my low opinion of the Jersey-Style of knitting Cotton, elsewhere in this Forum, but, on rare occasions, I've encountered some Blended T-Shirts that have "unintentionally"(?) been put through burn-outs, and those occasionally can be as soft, if not softer than Nylon, Acetate, and Rayon Tricots. Polyester alone, in a Tricot Knit, doesn't cut it for me. I find the stuff stiff and lifeless, and my skin doesn't breathe as it does with the other three Tricots.

Yes, I would miss my nylons, silks, satins and such, but I would and do wear cotton panties. Cotton can be soft and sheer, and very sexy - so absolutely - YES !

Like JanetCD said, a resounding NO!. If I want to wear cotton, I can get by just fine with my male titey-whities.
To me, I have seen very few cotton panties that look or feel sexy.

For me it would have to be NO, because not only is it just the feel of the material, it is also the look that is important, as the saying goes, " If it does'nt feel right, and does'nt look right, then it can't be right." A substitute is merely a substitute and you should not settle for second best, otherwise you will only be fooling yourself. For me, when I had my first experience in wearing panties/knickers against my genetalia, I literally exploded at the first touch against my skin and then it became a secret infatuation that went to private areas where I could get more and more secret rendevous with the material that I fell in love with. At this time, I was without a partner, but it was the closest feeling I was able to have to close to a woman. So that is why it has to be a silky/satiny feeling with the look of luxury against the skin, with no compromising to please other peoples eyes.

Of Course! I wear the best underwear I can find. If the best was cotton, who wouldn't wear them?

"If it's not nylon or silky, I am going back to my tighty-whities!!!!"

"No thanks. I will sport these super soft Victoria's Secret cotton panties."

Just say NO to cotton! I am slowly replacing my wife's panties with nylon or satin. Secretly stealing her ugly cotton each month and replacing.....so much fun to shop for her.

I hope she's in agreement with you, women can be almost as possessive as we are when in comes to our panties.
